Location
I am located in the Rockfish Valley, of Nelson County, Virginia. At an elevation of 770 ft. above sea level, at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This shot of the valley is looking East from an overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
The Parkway runs for over 450 miles through Virginia and North Carolina. The northern entrance to the parkway and the southern entrance to the Skyline Drive is  about 5 miles away.
Location
The Appalachian Trail runs along the Blue Ridge as well.
CURRENT MOON
I am fortunate to have some nice dark skies here. Within 60 miles are some of the darkest skies East of the Mississippi, on the W.Va./ Va. Border. There is also a retreat located there, Bear Mt., which rents campsites that is a great place to get away and have the chance for a weekend or more of great imaging or just observing.
The city of Charlottesville is about 20 miles N.E. of here, where the University of Virginia is located. There are a couple of observatories owned by the University, one of which, McCormick Observatory, is where my clubs' meetings are held. Another observatory is located at Fan Mountain, which is about 8 miles from my place.
