Thailand
My wife is from Nakorn Ratchasima, in the Northeast of Thailand. Although we now live in Virginia, we have land in Thailand and plan to move there permanently within a few years. This is where I will build my observatory, and the main reason I haven't built one yet.
We have a 5 yr. old daughter, Kira, and her first trip to Thailand was when she was only 1 1/2 yrs. old. She really seems to love it there, and is learning to speak Thai pretty well. She loves riding motorcycles, going to water parks, and playing with her cousins there.

Thailand is a great place with wonderful people and amazing food. The traffic in the cities can take a little getting used to, and seems a bit crazy, but seems to run pretty smoothly anyway. Most traffic signs and lines on the road seem to be more of a "suggestion" than the rule, but all in all it works pretty well.

We went back this past year over Christmas and New Year and bought a plot of land in Khorat (2 pics lower right)  and now will be looking at building a house. I don't know how good the photography will be from this site. I am a bit spoiled I guess due to the very dark skies I have in Virginia.     Due to the light pollution in Khorat, a city of about 500,000, I don't have much hope of getting the nice shots I can in Va. So, we also have a piece of land outside the city where the skies are darker. This is where I plan to build an observatory (last pic). The land now is basically a field with mango and coconut trees.
